Speaky AI Privacy Policy
Speaky AI ("Speaky", "we", "us") provides English-learning and speaking-practice features. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is collected and used, which service providers receive it, how long it is retained, and how users can control or delete it.

Data we collect and how
- Account data: an anonymous account identifier by default, or the name and email address supplied when the user chooses Apple or Google sign-in. This is collected through Firebase Authentication.
- Learning data: selected goals, English level, interests, lesson progress, streaks, answers, typed practice messages, conversation transcripts, and generated feedback. This is collected from user choices and use of learning features.
- Audio: short voice recordings created only when the user presses and holds a microphone control. The recording is uploaded for speech recognition after the user explicitly permits third-party AI processing. The temporary file is deleted from the device after upload.
- Purchase data: product identifier, entitlement status, renewal status, and expiry information received from Apple and RevenueCat. Speaky does not receive full payment-card information.
- Notification data: a device messaging token and reminder preference when the user enables reminders.
- Usage and diagnostics: basic events such as onboarding progress, paywall actions, and review-prompt outcomes, plus technical diagnostics made available by Firebase and the operating system.
How we use data
We use this information to authenticate accounts, provide and personalize lessons, transcribe speech, generate AI conversation and feedback, estimate an English level, save learning history and progress, restore purchases, deliver requested reminders, prevent abuse, operate and secure the service, and understand app reliability and funnel performance.
We do not sell personal data or use practice content for third-party advertising.
Third-party AI disclosure and permission
Third-party processing requires explicit, provider-specific permission in the app. Before consent, the app identifies what Speaky keeps, the exact data sent, the recipient, and each purpose. At entry to Home, users who have not made a choice see an OpenAI permission dialog. Selecting Allow and send to OpenAI enables OpenAI-powered speaking practice; selecting Continue without AI keeps those features off while allowing users to browse lessons, history, and their account. Attempting an OpenAI-powered feature offers permission again before any data is sent.
The permissions are independent:
- OpenAI: receives voice recordings for speech-to-text and receives transcripts, typed practice messages, recent conversation context, lesson context, and English level to provide placement, conversation replies, checkpoint scoring, and feedback. Speaky does not include the user's name, email address, or account identifier in prompts sent to OpenAI.
- Google Translate: receives only the exact English text a user chooses to translate. The app asks separately at the moment the user first chooses Translate. OpenAI permission does not enable Google Translate, and nothing is sent to Google Translate unless this separate permission is granted.
Users should avoid including sensitive personal information in practice recordings or messages. Either permission can be withdrawn independently at any time from Settings → Privacy & AI data. Withdrawal blocks new requests to that provider, but does not prevent browsing non-AI content or delete data already stored with the Speaky account. Requests already sent cannot be recalled. Users can request deletion as described below.
Other service providers
- Google Firebase provides authentication, analytics, and push-notification delivery.
- Google Cloud Run hosts the Speaky API.
- Supabase provides the database used to store account and learning data.
- RevenueCat and Apple process purchase and subscription status. A Speaky account identifier is used to associate an entitlement with the correct account.
These providers process data to deliver services to Speaky under their applicable data-protection and security terms. We require service providers handling user data on our behalf to use it only for the contracted purpose and to provide protection equal to or stronger than the protections described here.
Retention, deletion, and withdrawal
Learning preferences, transcripts, session history, feedback, and progress are retained while the account is active so the app can show history and personalize the learning path. Temporary audio files are deleted from the device after upload and are not stored in the Speaky session history. Purchase records may be retained as required for financial, fraud-prevention, and legal obligations. Service providers may retain limited records under their security, abuse-monitoring, and legal obligations.
Users can withdraw future AI processing permission in Settings → Privacy & AI data. To request deletion of the account and stored personal data, use Account → Help & feedback or email conbo104@gmail.com from the address associated with the account. We may retain only information required by law, security, or transaction-record obligations.
Security and international processing
We use authenticated connections and encrypted HTTPS transport. Access to account data is restricted by account ownership. Service providers may process data in countries different from the user's country and apply their contractual and legal transfer safeguards.
Children
Speaky AI is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian should contact us if they believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission.
Changes
If the categories of practice data, AI recipients, or purposes materially change, the app will present a new disclosure and request permission again before sending data under the changed terms. The effective date above will also be updated.
